The 2012 Pan-African Awards for Entrepreneurship in Education - Winners Announced!

The EDUCATING AFRICA Pan-African Awards for Entrepreneurship in Education is a competition initiated by Teach A Man To Fish and generously sponsored by our partner organization Educating Africa. It continues to reward organizations in Africa that use innovative and entrepreneurial techniques to fill gaps in educational services across the continent. The competition is open to all organizations based in Africa working in education, from primary through to tertiary, as well as in non-formal and adult education.  

Previous winners have ranged from agricultural training initiatives, to family learning and vocational training, and even targeted international volunteering agencies – we are looking for anything and everything that combats poverty in an innovative, sustainable and effective way, so no matter how large or small your organisation, get in touch!

Entrepreneurship in Education

What are the main features of projects we look for?

  • They’re entrepreneurial: developing innovative, replicable & scalable approaches to tackling entrenched problems in education; empowering future generations of entrepreneurs
  • They’re sustainable: financially, socially and environmentally; looking beyond donations and subsidies as the primary means of creating positive social and environmental outcomes 
  • They create impact: achieving measurable results in terms of educational achievement and economic outcomes for participants and their communities

Organisations running creative programs in the education and entrepreneurship field can play a vital role in driving positive social change, yet they rarely receive the recognition they deserve. The EDUCATING AFRICA Pan-African Awards for Entrepreneurship in Education represent a small step forward in terms of drawing international attention to their brilliant ideas and achievements.

The Competition and its Sponsor

 

As well as a first prize of $10,000 and two runners-up prizes of $5,000, there are up to 50 awards of $1,000 available for the best entry from every country on the continent. The top three award-winners are also sponsored a trip for the awards presentation and peer learning visits to Teach A Man To Fish partners.

 

The competition is sponsored by Educating Africa - a foundation committed to introducing cost effective and sustainable education initiatives throughout Africa, and to acknowledging some of the tremendous educational projects that have been developed across the continent.
