Prestigious Awards for the flagship Financially Sustainable School in Paraguay:
Most Innovative Development Project, GDN Conference 2010
The Paraguayan model for a Self-Sufficient Agriculture School that provides accessible and quality education to young rural smallholders won an award for the Most Innovative Development Project in a competition promoted by the government of Japan through the Japan Social Development Fund.
This award, consisting of 30 thousand dollars, was given to Fundación Paraguaya during the 11th Annual Conference of the Global Development Network (GDN) held from January 16-18, 2010 in Prague, The Czech Republic.
World Innovation Summit on Education 2009 award
The Fundación Paraguaya was awarded the WISE (World Innovation Summit on Education) award, chosen from among 588 participants from throughout the world for its self-financing education model.
The WISE awards, given out by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, consist of 20 thousand dollars recognizing the six best initiatives in the education sector on a global scale: one of these is Self-Financing Education Model.
Its main objective is to showcase innovative projects related to education at the world level that promote distinguished cross-disciplinary collaborative educational partnerships. The Financially Sustainable School model was selected by a renowned international jury, along with five other initiatives, from some 588 proposals received.

Young Global Leader 2009
In 2009 Nik Kafka founder and Managing Director of Teach A Man To Fish was honoured to be selected to join the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leader community.
The Forum of Young Global Leaders is a unique, multistakeholder community of exceptional young leaders who share a commitment to shaping the global future. Together, they form a powerful international community that can dramatically impact the global future
International Templeton Freedom Award 2009
Education That Pays For Itself model implemented at the San Francisco school in Paraguay received the international Templeton Freedom Award 2009 granted by the Atlas Economic Research Foundation.
The Templeton Award, 2009 edition, recognized Fundación Paraguaya from among 130 participants from 47 countries in the category of “Excellence in Promoting Liberty.” According to Atlas Foundation, this award represents “the recognition of a non-profit institution that has demonstrated extraordinary success in providing business skills to low income youth from rural areas transforming them into rural entrepreneurs.”
Second place in the BBC World Challenge 2008 competition
In December 2008 our flagship school in Paraguay won second place in World Challenge, a competition for social enterprises in developing countries organized by BBC World, Shell & Newsweek.
The annual competition was launched in 2005. It seeks to identify and reward projects and small businesses from across the globe that demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit working for the benefit of the community whilst adopting a responsible approach. Since its foundation, World Challenge has awarded financial grants to number projects from around the world.
